“I came here, Dunedin, to study my PhD in the University of Otago in 2016.
I’m a music therapist and my major instrument is Gayageum, the Korean traditional zither instrument which I’m playing in the video.
The reason why I choose the story of the faithful magpies is that I would like to share Korean culture by introducing one of the famous stories in Korea. It is interesting that magpies are welcomed in Korea compared to other countries. They are appeared in many traditional fairy tales in Korea.
From my story, you now understand why magpies are the symbol of good guest, good luck, and faith in Korea!
For the music, I used parts of the melodies from “the forest” by Hwang Byung-gi to honor the great composer as well as a good teacher”
