Choosing the correct size wood fire for the space you are wanting to heat is very important.
A model that is too large for the space you are heating will have to be turned down, which reduces efficiency and creates more emissions.
Too small and it will fail to generate sufficient heat to warm the area.
Homes with a high stud, lack of insulation, or the installation of a wetback may require more heating capacity.
Your Mitre 10 MEGA Dunedin team member can provide further assistance in choosing the best size fire.

Note: The above guidelines are approximate and subject to the installation of a heat transfer kit complete with wall thermostat positioned in the same room as the re. If your house is poorly insulated with subsequent higher heat loss, consideration should be given to the next tier up on the “kW” location scale. Radiant wood res are suitable for any ceiling height. Convection res should only be installed with a maximum ceiling height of 2.4 metres. For inbuilt res installed in houses with ceiling heights above 2.4 metres, it is recommended that consideration be given to a wood re with convection fan.
