DSO’s ‘Mozart’s Monster Mash’

DSO’s ‘Mozart’s Monster Mash’ Saturday 30 July, 7.00pm, Dunedin Town Hall

Come and hear Dunedin's talented musicians perform a feast of some of Mozart's most popular music at the Dunedin Town Hall. The DSO, along with City Choir Dunedin, will be joined by musicians and choir singers of all ages and skill levels who love Mozart, and who are keen to be part of our glorious community play-in concert – Mozart’s Monster Mash in association with the Otago Daily Times. Also on the programme will be Handel's much-loved 'Hallelujah' Chorus (from 'The Messiah), as will 'The Monster Mash' which is bound to be a hit with the audience as audience participation will be encouraged!

For this special event, community and student instrumentalists and singers will work with their DSO and City Choir Dunedin counterparts. Together they'll create a mass community orchestral and choral spectacular, performing short works by Mozart and Handel which have been specially arranged for players of different skill levels so that everyone can join in.

Also on the programme will be performances of works by Mozart by three University of Otago Music students - all appearing as soloists with the DSO for the first time:  Skyla Murray - Adagio for violin and orchestra, Cameron Montheath - First movement from Piano Concerto No. 16, and Rhiannon Cooper (soprano) singing “Per pietà, ben mio, perdona” from the opera 'Cosi fan tutte'.

Marshalling the huge assembly of performers will be Dunedin conductor Peter Adams.

Truly a feast not to be missed.

In COVID Orange Settings the wearing of a face mask at controlled access events is not compulsory. However, we strongly encourage you to wear a face mask to keep you and our musicians safe. If you are unwell, please stay home.
