A mix of new and established fashion labels will feature on the runway at the iD Dunedin Fashion Week's signature event, being held over two nights at the Dunedin Railway Station in March.

The iD Fashion Shows, on what has been dubbed "New Zealand's longest catwalk" - the platform of the historic railway station - will welcome back several of the event's loyal Dunedin-based labels.

iD Dunedin Fashion Week committee chairwoman Susie Staley said 18 designers would line up at this year's runway show.

The participating labels had been selected to show their winter collections and offer a mix of "fresh, new designers on their way to great things", alongside some of New Zealand's top fashion labels, Ms Staley said.

The Runway shows at the railway station were always the "must-see" event of the iD Fashion Week, she said.

Winter collections from homegrown Dunedin fashion houses Carlson, DADA Vintage, and Vaughan Geeson make their return to the iD runway, which will also welcome newcomer RUBY to the event.

New label Liam will also make its iD debut, and Madam Hawke's Emily Miller Sharma, a runner-up in the emerging designer awards in 2007, will take her first steps as a fully-fledged designer.

Established in 1999, the iD Fashion Week was founded to highlight the best of Dunedin's fashion labels and the South's local designers.

The Runway shows will also feature five designers as part of its 2012 capsule collections.

Fashion labels Undone and DEVa'L will make their first appearances at the iD show, while the "ever-popular" designs of Cherry Cotton Candy, BurtenShaw and Jane Sutherland return.

Rounding out the line-up are several graduates from the 2011 Otago Polytechnic school of design programme, Fiona Clements, Molly Barrington, Grace Averis, Jojo Ross and Phillip Hawkins.

The group of graduates would show their designs alongside winners from the emerging designer awards show, another highlight of the week of fashion fixtures, Ms Staley said.
