Tactile tiles, oversized tiles and marble tiles are popular trends developing in tile styles lately.
The latest styles from Italy featuring tactile surfaces have caught the attention of the interior designers who are "raving" about them.
"These latest releases proves to me the Italians still have it," enthuses Denis Gibbins, of Dunedin's Tile Centre, as he holds the damask contemporary floor/wall range which offers a soft, luxury look.
Another new release The Sand Dune wave pattern and Diamond wall tiles are designed specifically for feature walls. "This range is quietly dramatic," adds Vianney Santagati. "Sometimes people want a change in texture not a change in colour."
LARGE-FORMAT TILES
Traditionally, tiles measuring 600mm by 600mm have been considered the biggest tile size for about the past five years, said Mr Gibbins.
While these tiles still remained the biggest seller, the latest trend was 800mm by 800mm and 1m by 500mm size tiles. Vianney explained with many people building bigger homes these days they can accommodate this larger format. In the 800mm by 800mm format the velvet series from Casa Dolce Casa are fine porcelain stoneware tiles inspired by natural stone varieties found in northern Italy. Produced using digital print technology and with a colour shade variation rating V4 every piece is completely unique. This not only gives a more spacious look but can be both stunning and elegant.
MARBLE
An exclusive range of marble tiles never seen before in New Zealand sourced from the four corners of the earth have arrived in at the Tile Centre, Dunedin.
The colour range is outstanding and have been used for floors and feature walls. This range is admired by the sophisticated stylish clients as the piece speaks for themselves ... marble is sheer elegance.
