Monday, February 22: Palmerston Garden Circle's bus trip to Owaka leaves at 8.45am from behind the Palmerston Community Centre.

Please bring morning and afternoon tea.

Wednesday, February 24: Orchid meeting, 7.30pm at St Peter's Church hall, Hillside Rd, South Dunedin.

Members please bring along any plants that have suffered or flourished over the holiday period for discussion.

Thursday, February 25: Otago Herb Society will meet at 7.30pm in the Upper Botanic Garden Education Centre.

Bart Acres and Bunny Rathbone will talk about growing and collecting your own seeds.

The Outram Garden Club will meet at 7.30pm in the Outram Community Centre.

Guest speaker is Peter Salmon from Hokonui Alpines.

Competitions are three Dahlias, one Alpine, one Tomato.

Weekend, February 27-28: Dunedin Horticultural Society's Grand Summer Show, Saturday 2pm to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm, Forbury Park Raceway, Dunedin. 3pm Saturday: Lilies with John Hill.

Summer flowers, floral art, bonsai, fruit and vegetables, sales table, raffles, afternoon tea. $5 adults, members and children free.

Friday, March 5: HortTalk: Tree Risk Management - diagnostic tools used in modern arboriculture, by Frank Buddingh, consulting arborist.

Frank estimates he has pruned more than 25,000 trees and assessed the health of many more.

His talk will include interesting methods used to assess tree health in order to balance the needs of trees and people.

Noon, Botanic Garden Centre, Upper Lovelock Ave.

Sunday, March 7: Otago Girls High School PTSA house and garden tour, 12.30pm-5pm, eight properties in Dunedin and on the Taieri.

Tickets $15 from the school office, Red Barn, Garden Place ITM and Nichol's.

Includes afternoon tea and 45-minute Les Cleveland guided tour.

Saturday, March 13: Catlins Horticultural Society, in conjunction with the Invercargill and Dunedin Dahlia Circles, autumn flower show, 1.30pm, Owaka Community Centre, Ovenden St.

Adults $3, children free.
