A 12-year-old girl has been charged over a fatal stabbing in Melbourne.
Emergency services were called to a Footscray apartment after a 37-year-old woman was found dead about 2am on Thursday.
The girl was arrested at the scene, taken to hospital for assessment and placed under police guard.
She has now been charged with one count of murder.
The child was remanded to appear before a children's court at a later date.
