Many organisations took part including the University of Otago, Otago Polytechnic, Dive Otago and Air New Zealand.
The workforce was changing "all the time" and the expo would continue to develop to meet those changes, Mr Gillard said.
"What existed for people 10 years ago is not necessarily the same today, so they need to connect and see what’s out there for them."
