The group of four aspiring broadcasters hosted OAR FM's ‘‘youth zone'' show from the Dunedin Community Gallery yesterday.
OAR FM community liaison officer Jeff Harford said the station opted to broadcast from the gallery to promote tomorrow's art auction which would raise funds for youth programming on OAR FM.
‘‘We thought ‘we have got this space and are surrounded by all this beautiful art', so we thought it would be nice to have a physical presence in the gallery,'' he said.
An exhibition in support of the auction opened in the gallery on Saturday and runs daily from 10am-5pm until tomorrow.
OAR FM youth co-ordinator Dominic Angelo-Laloli said he was pleased with the efforts of yesterday's broadcasters and the capability of the new outside broadcast set.
‘‘This is all streaming back to the station through Skype,'' he said, explaining how the new equipment worked.
‘‘We have got all this equipment together and it's proved itself to work and it will do well in the future.''
The art auction would be the third held to raise funds for the youth zone and this year would feature more than 70 artworks by established and emerging local artists.
It would be held at 6pm tomorrow, Mr Angelo-Laloli said.
