If you have always hated the colour of the Dunedin Railway Station, now is your chance to change it.

Dunedin artist and photographer Yvonne King has created a colouring book with 50 pictures of Dunedin landmarks in it — including the historic railway station.

The book, titled Dunedin To Colour — A Colouring Adventure, contains black and white versions of photos taken by Mrs King, which could be coloured in.

She said the options for changing the colour schemes of Dunedin’s landmarks was limitless.

"All 50 pictures are places of interest in Dunedin, from the Octagon, the Railway Station, Baldwin St, Otago Harbour, Carey’s Bay, the Harbour Molars and even a couple of cruise ships for the tourists, as well.

"Even if you don’t colour them in, it’s a nice keepsake of Dunedin."

Mrs King said she was inspired to create the book after she and her husband returned to Dunedin from managing Glade House on the Milford Track for seven years.

"The scenery there was amazing. We’d go tramping most days and everything around inspired me.

"I thought, Dunedin’s pretty special, too, and it’s got a lot to see. What’s in my book doesn’t even cover half of it, but it covers a lot."

She said the book was aimed at tourists, but many of the books had already been bought by local residents.

She was surprised by the response.

About 500 were printed in the first run, and within a couple of weeks, half of them were sold, she said.

It had given her an incentive to sell the remainder and print another batch.

The book is available at the i-SITE Centre, Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Dunedin Railway Station, Paper Plus, University Book Shop, Moi St Clair, the Evansdale Cheese shop and at the Moeraki Boulders.
