The 44-year-old man assaulted another male passenger aboard Anthem of the Seas following an altercation about 9.30pm on Thursday, Snr Sgt Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said.
Police were advised and were there when the ship docked at Port Chalmers yesterday.
After speaking to all parties, and taking into account the circumstances, police warned the man over the assault, Snr Sgt Bond said.
He was also excluded from the ship, meaning he will have to leave his family aboard the cruise ship and make his own arrangements to get back to Australia.
The other man received medical attention on board for a cut to his nose, Snr Sgt Bond said. — Allied Media
