The new Emerson's Brewery is beginning to take shape in Dunedin.

Brewery manager Chris O'Leary said construction at 80 Anzac Ave was on track and there was a ‘‘roof shout'' on site on Friday to celebrate the roof being installed.

"We're looking pretty good.''

Contractors and subcontractors had been ‘‘fantastic'' and the brewery was expected to open to the public in July next year.

Bricklaying company Hugh Madden Ltd had laid more than half the 30,000 bricks against the walls.

The biggest challenge of the building work was getting windows made, because of the extra demand generated by the Christchurch rebuild.

The next milestone would be the installation of the windows, which was expected to happen by early February.

The stainless steel tanks at the back of the brewery would be full of beer by April.

"As well as a brewery, the new site would include a cellar door and a taproom and brewery restaurant.
