Car set fire to in central Dunedin

A vehicle with no battery and a concrete block on its accelerator was set alight in Dunedin over the weekend.

Sergeant Matt Lee, of Dunedin, said police were called to Great King St on Friday at 10.25pm after reports of a Ford Falcon being set alight.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

When the vehicle fire was extinguished, it was discovered the battery of the vehicle had been removed and a concrete block had been placed on the accelerator.  

The cause of the fire was being investigated.
