Clothes dryer fire in Mosgiel

Fire crews were called to deal with a flaming clothes dryer in Mosgiel this afternoon.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand supervisor Brent Dunn said crews were called to the property in Hall St about 4.15pm.

They found a small fire in a laundry caused by a dryer, but crews were able to sort things out quickly, he said.

It was unclear what caused the dryer to burst into flames, but Consumer NZ recommends cleaning lint filters after every wash to reduce the risk of fire.
