Crashes keep emergency services busy

A series of car crashes near Dunedin and elsewhere in Otago-Southland kept emergency services busy today but resulted in mainly minor to moderate injuries.

One person was taken to Dunedin Hospital following a crash on State Highway 1, south of Allanton.

The crash was discovered by St John about 6.20pm between Centre Rd and McLaren Gully Rd, just south of the Dunedin Airport turnoff.

Earlier, Gore volunteer firefighters were sent to a car crash on the Gore-Mataura Highway at 1.15pm after a car hit a bank.

No-one was believed to be seriously injured.

And two people received minor injuries after a car crash on the Manuherikia Rd towards Oamakau, 5kms north of Alexandra, at 3.18pm.
