Students were advised to double check the security of their homes after a series of PlayStation thefts in the past month.

Five PlayStation 4's had been taken from around the student area including Harbour Tce and Leith St since the start of October.

The majority of the thefts happened during the day, as early as 10.30am.

Snr Sgt Craig Dinnissen said heading towards the end of the year, students should take extra security measures and ensure they lock their homes.

Police advised anyone who had seen anything suspicious around the area to contact them.
