Disruption expected with roundabout work

Some disruption is expected when a $2 million project to add three new roundabouts at Green Island begins next week, the Dunedin City Council says.

The roundabouts, which aimed to reduce congestion and improve safety, will be installed at the Green Island interchange, where Main South Rd intersects with Westland St, Abbotsford Rd and Brighton Rd.

The upgrade was expected to cause some disruption for traffic and some overnight noise, council transport engineering and road safety team leader Hjarne Poulsen said.

The costs would be shared by the DCC and NZ Transport Agency, and work was due to be completed by July, he said.
