The pair give each other cash in a card on their birthday.
Whoever gave the card first, the other took out the cash and returned it in another card.
The sisters live at Mossbrae Healthcare in Mosgiel — Mrs Fagg since 2008 and Mrs Wright since 2013.
At the rest-home, the sisters celebrated yesterday by sharing afternoon tea with nearly 100 family members, spanning the generations to great-great-grandchildren.
Featuring at the celebration were cards to the twins from Queen Elizabeth, a picture of the twins when they were
3 and their birth notice from the Otago Witness in 1917.
The sisters (nee Wells) were born and raised in Milton.
Mrs Wright was older by half an hour.
Twins run in the family — some of the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren are twins.
Both sisters had four children — two boys and two girls each.
Mrs Wright’s son, Alan Wright, said the celebration yesterday organised by the rest-home was "fantastic".
