Police are looking for a person who drove off after their vehicle crashed into an Albany St bus shelter in Dunedin.

A police spokeswoman said the driver ''decamped'' after the incident, about 9.15am today.

Officers located the vehicle on Heriot Row by following a trail of fuel from the bus stop, but have yet to find the driver.
