Orientation at the University of Otago is likely to include an academic component next year, as faculties become more involved in the introductory week for new students.
The university, Otago University Students Association (OUSA) and Dunedin City Council were involved in an Orientation debrief recently, along with other interested parties, following the more integrated approach taken during February's event.
OUSA president Logan Edgar said, overall, everyone involved with the 2012 "Orientadium" was happy with how it went.
Authorities praised the OUSA for its organisation and implementation of activities, he said.
Next year's Orientation Week would probably involve a new academic component as the university was becoming more involved in the event.
Traditionally, the OUSA was responsible for Orientation, which served as a fun way for new students to familiarise themselves with Dunedin, the university and their classmates.
Any academic events would work to complement OUSA activities, rather than detract from them, Mr Edgar said.
