The public has the opportunity to get involved in the Fringe Festival today when the festival workshops start in the Dunedin Public Art Gallery auditorium.
• Sing Out in Harmony, with Lisa Tui Productions, reconnects with the fun of singing.
For novices and professionals, the workshop will teach singing in tune, singing in harmony, singing solo and improvisation.
Today at 10.30am and 12.30pm.
Bainbridge appears in Portraits - The Woman Outside at the Fortune Theatre Studio at 7pm today and 2pm tomorrow.
• Circus Workshops for Kids, by Dunedin circus arts troupe Highly Flammable, will teach circus skills such as juggling, long poi, staff, hoops and stilts. The workshops will be held today and tomorrow at 1pm and 2pm.
The circus workshops will also be held next weekend at 2pm and 3pm on Saturday and 1pm and 2pm on Sunday.
• Comedy for Beginners features Wellington comedians Benjamin Crellin and Sarah Harpur giving a crash course on how to get into comedy.
The workshop will take participants through the creative process and developing a stage persona.
The hour-long workshop concludes with a question and answer session.

• Rhyme Time - Where Poetry and Art Collide, by Art Hysterical Productions.
Take along an image of a favourite piece of art and write a poem about it.
Inexperienced poets will be encouraged to strut their stuff in a supportive atmosphere.
Take paper and pencils. A rhyming dictionary will be provided.

• Bikes 4 Fun, with Arrowtown bike enthusiast John Potts, is aimed at school children who want to know more about bikes.
The talk explores the history of the bicycle from 1870 onwards and shows a BMX bike being taken to pieces and reassembled.
A penny-farthing will be on display and the children will have the chance to try out a unicycle.

• Bollywood 4 Fun, by the Rasa School of Dance, looks at the colour and fun of Indian culture and the rise of films such as Slumdog Millionaire.

• Physical Theatre Training, by Free Theatre, explores the development of the body and voice. The workshop is modelled on professional training and includes exercises to develop physical and vocal ability and to help groups work collaboratively.
Clothing suitable for physical activity is necessary for this workshop.
