Freemasons celebrate 150 years

The Scottish Freemasons of Dunedin will begin their 150th anniversary celebrations tonight with a special lodge meeting, followed by a dinner at the Balmacewen Golf Club.

Right Worshipful Master of the lodge, Ross Hudson, said the dinner for about 100 members from throughout New Zealand would begin a year-long celebration of the Scottish Freemasons' history.

A book on the history of the Scottish Freemasons' in Dunedin, written by member Andrew McGown, would be released later in the year.

Special guests for the celebrations include Grand Master Mason of Scotland, Charles Iain Robert Wolrige Gordon, of Esslemont, and Grand Master Mason of New Zealand, Selwyn Cooper.
