The Ministry of Education said pupils at North East Valley Normal School were removed from the classrooms late last year when mould was discovered and remediation work was carried out.
Ministry of Education chief executive for school property Jerome Sheppard said the mould affected classrooms and toilets.
The school was able to use other spaces while the work was under way.
Since the work was completed, the school is now taking the chance to upgrade the seven-classroom junior block.
"This project was approved through the school’s five-year agreement funding and the completed works were independently cleared."
A completion and clearance certificate was issued just before Christmas last year.
Now, a separate, school-led project is up for tender for a complete refurbishment.
"It is an opportunity for the school to carry out planned upgrades and refurbishment works on Block 1 while some of the classrooms are already out of use, lessening the need for further disruption," Mr Sheppard said.
The work would specifically focus on addressing roofing issues, which very likely contributed to the mould problem.
"This second project has not yet started, and its timing will depend on contractor availability once a preferred contractor is confirmed."
