Look out. They are coming.

A horde of zombies is set to invade Montecillo Park on July 26 in the form of a fun run to raise funds for Dunedin youth organisation Chatbus.

Chatbus is a free mobile counselling service for children under the age of 14.

Organiser Averil Pierce said people could expect a ''zombie apocalypse'' and ''lots of fun'' on the day.

''[It's] a bit of competition, a bit of a challenge all while supporting the kids in this city.''

''That's what it's all about,'' Mrs Pierce said.

People would be able to compete as either a runner or a zombie in the non-contact event and runners would have to protect tags attached to them from competing zombies.

Prizes would be awarded for the winning runners, the winning team, the most authentic-looking zombie and the best dressed.

People can register at www.theyarecoming.co.nz.
