Gun pulled during argument: police

A man who allegedly brandished an air pistol during an argument in Dunedin early yesterday surrendered without incident when confronted by members of the Dunedin police armed offenders squad.

The AOS was deployed after reports the 29-year-old man had presented a firearm during an argument at a house in Ravensbourne, Dunedin, about 1.20am yesterday, Acting Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson said.

The AOS cordoned off the Manapouri St property, then called on the man to come out, Acting Snr Sgt Thomson said.

The man surrendered without incident, and would appear in the Dunedin District Court on a "firearms-related charge", Acting Snr Sgt Thomson said.

It was not clear how many people were at the house at the time of the incident, but there were no reports of injuries, he said.
