Showing off their medals to Taieri College year 9 and 10 pupils in the school’s performing arts centre yesterday are (from left) Paralympic skier Adam Hall, Olympic snowboarder Zoi Sadowski-Synnott and Paralympic skier Corey Peters.

The three athletes spoke to the pupils about how they became involved in sport and the challenges they faced.

Hall, who went to Taieri College, said it was an honour to be back and speaking to the pupils.

It did not matter if you came from a small rural town or a big city, anything could be accomplished if you set your mind to it, Hall said.

It was great to be able to speak to groups of people again, as Covid-19 had put a stop to big events, he said.

The trio spoke to year levels in groups and answered questions from pupils.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
