Stuck at home by snow and ice, the pupils are sent their work by email, Internet and telephone, and have to bring the completed work to school the next day for marking.
And if they do not bother?Welcome to the Friday lunchtime homework session.
The idea of using the power of the email system is the brainchild of Lee Stream Primary School teaching principal Bilinda Offen.
In previous years, pupils had snow folders which they worked from when stuck at home, but modern technology had enabled them to work on more up-to-date assignments.
Mrs Offen said the 28 pupils at the school could email or phone her with any questions.
She had three emails yesterday and had rung the children to see how they were getting on.
Pupils from the one family which did not have access to a computer were telephoned by Mrs Offen and given details of work to carry out.
Some pupils had access to the Internet and could download from the school website information needed for assignments.
The Beattie brothers, Brodie and Ethan, spent yesterday morning out in the snow, but in the afternoon were reading a book, silently, and writing an assignment about why their teacher should read the book, then learning about different shapes.
Brodie (10) said he was keen to get into his homework, though Ethan (11) was a little less enthusiastic, and admitted he had already attended a Friday lunchtime homework lesson.
