Dunedin police attend the scene of a crash in Andersons Bay, Dunedin, yesterday. The car hit ice and slid off the Portobello Rd causeway, near Marne St.
The two people in the car were not injured, Acting Senior Sergeant Ian Temple said.
In another ice-related incident, a woman with a minor injury was taken to Dunedin Hospital after a car crashed at Waianiwa, near Invercargill, about 9am yesterday.
Senior Sergeant Craig Brown said there were several crashes in the South and most were weather related.
A woman was taken to Dunedin Hospital with moderate injuries after a Volkswagen van she was in failed to negotiate a slight bend near Lawrence and hit a power pole about 7.30am.
North of Dunedin at Pigeon Flat on the Northern Motorway, a car hit a bank about 9.30am. Nobody was injured.
A two-car crash in Opoho about 10am appeared to be ice-related, Snr Sgt Brown said.
Nobody was injured.
About 3pm, two cars slid off Portobello Rd, at Company Bay, resulting in a Toyota vehicle hanging nose-down over Otago Harbour.
Nobody was injured, he said.
Later yesterday afternoon, a ute and another vehicle were ''badly damaged'' in a crash at Maia, Dunedin.
Nobody was injured.
