Worksafe Victoria is investigating the death of a former Dunedin man who died after falling from a ladder at a construction site in Melbourne this month.
It is understood Peter Findlay Heads was working on the refurbishment of an old warehouse building when he fell 4.3m off a ladder at the site on May 19 in the Melbourne suburb of Maidstone.
He died on May 21 in hospital.
A WorkSafe Victoria spokesman confirmed the health and safety watchdog was investigating the death.
''It is in its early stages and it would be inappropriate to comment further,'' he said
It is understood the 53-year-old was performing renovation work from a ladder near the edge of a mezzanine floor when he fell to the ground floor, and suffered head injuries.
Attempts to contact Mr Heads' family yesterday were unsuccessful.
