David Jeffery, of Christchurch, cleans David Brooks’ 1947 "Diesel Rat" in preparation for its display at the Autospectacular at the Edgar Centre in Dunedin today.

Organiser Kevin Casey said about 300 vehicles would be on display this year, including 20 Ferraris.

The suggested theme of displays was "Golden Times", but that could mean "anything you like to make it", Mr Casey said.

Doors open at 9am and the show runs until 4pm. Entry costs between $2 and $20.

Children under the age of 5 are free.
