LSD, Ecstasy netted in drug raid

A haul of LSD and Ecstasy found by police during a search in Dunedin today is thought to have been destined for the local market.

A 21-year-old Dunedin man is facing charges of importing the drugs after two search warrants were executed in the city.

The drugs had been imported from Germany and the United Kingdom and had a street value of between $3500-$7000 (LSD) and about $55,000 (Ecstasy), police said.

The man has been arrested and will face three charges of importation of the Class A and B controlled drugs as well as associated drug dealing charges. He will appear in the Dunedin District Court tomorrow.

Detective Hamish Barrons said the drugs appeared to be destined for the local market.
