May we draw you, with tape, into our mural?

Q What's your act all about?

A It's an invitation amid all the other playful and edgy conversations that the city will be having to tap into something a bit deeper and primal and connect to the many anima we ken as part of our individual make up.

Q Why will Dunedin audiences enjoy it?

A People initially respond to the fact that we draw with tape, which is fairly unique. We work in a silhouette style that is representational and abstract and accessible to all ages. They are also drawn in by the fact we don't do preliminary sketches or plan our work, but let it evolve organically.

So we ask passersby to stop so we can sketch them directly into our mural.

Q What do you know about Dunedin?

A Strong underground music scene, scarfie culture, great beaches and peninsula coves, fantastic op shops, memories of a cafe with amazing home-made muesli. The steepest street in the world.

Q What makes you laugh?

A Random acts of whimsy, like the yarn bombing, seeing civic statues with woolly hats and peace blankets made of peggy squares in pink draped over tanks.

Erica Duthie and Struan Ashby create Animae until tomorrow in the Octagon and the University of Otago.
