Traffic leaving the city was backed up earlier today as emergency services fought a car fire in the northbound lane of the Dunedin Northern Motorway.
A police spokeswoman said Fire and Emergency New Zealand were dealing with the fire at the "top of the hill."

Police dealt with traffic which had started building up, she said.
The motorway was closed while firefighters put out the blaze, she said.
A line of vehicles was waiting to exit the city following the Eagles concert last night.
The fire was out by 11am and a tow truck was called to remove the burned vehicle from the side of the road, she said.
