Opoho School pupils Eadie Vandervis and Crystal McDonnell (both 11) were among more than 300 pupils who marched down George St as part of the annual Dunedin Orange Parade on Friday.

The event is the Dunedin City Council's way of thanking the pupils and adult helpers for the many hours spent before and after school controlling pedestrian crossings near the city's schools.

The parade concluded with a gathering in the Octagon where the pupils were congratulated by Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull.

The pupils then went for a swim at Moana Pool and ate a barbecue lunch.
