$5k in tools stolen from car

Police are warning people about items being stolen from parked cars in Dunedin.

Senior Sergeant Steve Larking, of Dunedin, said about $5000 worth of tools was stolen from a car parked in Hillhead Rd, Corstorphine, between 7.30pm on Tuesday and 7am yesterday.

"It's an ongoing trend in that area.''

People should remove valuable items from vehicles, he said.

A vacuum cleaner was stolen from a car parked in Earls Rd, St Clair, between Monday and yesterday.

The Shark vacuum was worth about $600, he said.
