Police recover firearms stolen in Dunedin

Police have recovered two firearms stolen from a Halfway Bush address on Monday.

Acting Senior Sergeant Phill Hamlin said police executed a search warrant in Dunedin yesterday and recovered the two rifles stolen from the Three Mile Hill Rd house.

Police were still conducting inquiries into the theft as the offenders were still outstanding, he said.

It is understood the theft has no relation to the earlier theft of 28 firearms from a Maitland St address.

The two rifles taken from Halway Bush had no bolts or ammunition and were stored correctly, acting Snr Sgt Hamlin said.
