Public meetings will be held across Otago and Southland next month to outline plans for the new Otago-Southland primary health organisation (PHO).
In a report to the Otago and Southland board's community and public health advisory committee, PHO transition board chairman Conway Powell said that by April there would be detailed proposals for the development and direction of the new PHO.
The meetings would give people a chance to comment on the plans and make suggestions.
Ian Macara, of Southland, has been appointed to manage the transition board for the new Otago-Southland primary health organisation (PHO).
He starts work this month.
Mr Macara has been the chief executive of PHO management Services Southland, the organisation that provides management services for the four existing Southland PHOs in Southland.
All nine Otago and Southland PHOs will cease operations at the end of June.
It is expected that Mr Macara's role as transition manager may continue until October.
