Safe and seen day for Mosgiel children

Mosgiel pre-school children will tomorrow take part in an event at The Warehouse in Mosgiel to highlight road safety and raise funds for Plunket's Safe and Seen programme.

The Seen and Safe programme, developed in 2007 by Otago/Southland Plunket, was aimed at ensuring young people were visible on roads and developed good road safety habits.

More than 5000 bike helmets and hi-vis vests had been given to young children through the programme.

Warehouse Mosgiel fundraising co-ordinator Jan Brady said a racetrack would be set up in The Warehouse car park tomorrow between 10.30am and 12.30pm with police, the Fire Service and St John Ambulance on hand to provide safety tips to children.

People could also donate to Plunket by adding $1 to purchases at the The Warehouse, which would go towards the programme.
