SDHB committees to be decided at first meeting

The make-up of the Southern District Health Board advisory committees will be settled at the board's first meeting for the year, on February 3.

Chairman Joe Butterfield said a "temporary" hospitals' advisory committee would meet the day before.

For that day's meeting the committee would be chaired by Paul Menzies (the previous committee chairman), with other members Dr Malcolm Macpherson, Dr Branko Sijnja, Richard Thomson and Tim Ward.

At this stage it is not clear how the announcement of the new committees' make-up will be made.

The board plans to depart from its previous practice of meeting in only Invercargill and Dunedin, with meetings scheduled for Queenstown-Central Otago in April and September.

No venue for these has been announced yet.

Mr Butterfield said increasing the number of meeting venues was designed to reflect the fact the board served a community that was greater than just Dunedin and Invercargill.

The final ministerial appointment to the board is also still awaited.
