The 25-year-old theatre nurse from Gera, near Leipzig, has covered much of his body in tattoos of places he has visited as he travels around the world.
So far, his body has become the canvas for a Statue of Liberty tattoo from his visit to New York, the Golden Gate Bridge (San Francisco), a bikini-clad woman (Miami), and a roulette wheel and gambling chips (Las Vegas).
Among many other large tattooed works of art on his body, he also has a life-sized heart tattooed on his chest as a memento of the work he does, helping with heart surgery.
With nearly 60% of his body covered in tattoos, Mr Wild said it was a painful and arduous passion, and it was not a cheap hobby.
"Some people collect stamps. I collect tattoos.
"I have about €8000-€9000 [$NZ13,000-$14,500] worth of tattoos. It's an investment.
"For me, it's a little bit cheaper. My friend is a tattoo artist."
Mr Wild said he was running out of skin to tattoo, but was adamant he would never have his face, neck or hands tattooed.
"I work in a hospital. If you can't hide it ... it's not professional."
Mr Wild is visiting Dunedin as part of a tour around New Zealand and Australia.
As for what he will have tattooed as a memento of his Dunedin visit, he had not yet decided.
"Maybe a penguin, or an albatross. I don't know yet."
