Three months after a large fire on Flagstaff in Dunedin there are plenty of signs of rejuvenation in the native flora around the popular Pineapple Track.

Otago Daily Times photographer Gerard O’Brien went for a walk where new leaves sprout, insects flit and flowers bloom.

The September fire sparked a large-scale response from firefighters, aided by eight helicopters.

Properties were evacuated, it temporarily closed 14 walking tracks and left 30ha burnt.

The fire was treated as suspicious, but its cause officially remains unknown.
