Staff first for uniform

Non-Sworn police staff in the Southern District are among the first in the country to try a new corporate uniform.

The introduction of the optional uniforms began in the Southern and Canterbury districts in May, with the staff the first to order and receive the new uniform.

Garments range in price from $27 to $100, and staff can claim a rebate up to a maximum of $100 a year.

Police national manager operations Superintendent Barry Taylor said "we have endeavoured to come up with a quality, stylish and affordable range of corporate wear that we hope staff will be proud to wear".

The range was expected to be ordered and delivered by December, he said.
