Super ward views heard today

The public's views on the future of Dunedin's voting system will be heard today, the last act before a final Dunedin City Council decision on the issue next month.

In June, the council voted in support of a "super ward" that would mean the ward system was scrapped in favour of 11 urban councillors, and three councillors representing two rural seats.

Today, the council will review 41 submissions on the issue, and hear from 12 people who want to speak on the subject.

Most submissions suggest variations to the super ward system.

The council will make a final decision by September 15, followed by an appeal period that ends on October 15.
