First the Harbour Mouth Molars received an unscheduled visit from the tooth fairy.
Then, just a week before Christmas - and with all quiet in Mosgiel - police received a call shortly after noon from a concerned member of the public.
The complaint stemmed from two Santas turning up at the Mosgiel Market Day and the unofficial Father Christmas forgetting it was the season of goodwill when asked to leave.
Acting Senior Sergeant Chris McLellan said it appeared a Santa had been booked to appear at the market day later that afternoon, but confusion reigned when another Santa arrived several hours earlier.
When asked to leave by organisers, the unofficial Santa became verbally abusive, but later left the scene, Sgt McLellan said.
Police investigated the incident and no charges were laid.
Elsewhere, a snapped mast spelt trouble for a Santa suit clad windsurfer who became stranded in the Glenorchy Arm of Lake Wakatipu.
The woman - aged in her 30s or 40s - was rescued by a private boat after sparking a police search and rescue operation on Saturday afternoon.
Constable Terry Erceg said the Queenstown Coastguard was notified and the SAR response began at 5.47pm when the woman was reported drifting towards Queenstown.
Queenstown Lakes District Council harbourmaster Marty Black said the woman, who was rescued about 2km north of Pigeon Island by a private boat from Kinloch Lodge, had been stranded since about 4pm.
He said the woman's partner, who had been watching her from the shore, called 111 and police then requested the Kinloch Lodge boat go to her aid.
She was not wearing a lifejacket but was wearing a full wetsuit beneath her yuletide apparel, Mr Black said.
