One man, who was rushed to Dunedin Hospital with suspected smoke inhalation, was discharged a few hours later.
Five other workers were taken to hospital some hours after the fire, for precautionary checks for smoke inhalation. They had all been discharged by yesterday evening.
The fire began shortly after 8am, during welding work in a duct. Sparks ignited a rubber seal and the smoke travelled into an extraction fan.
None of the facility's fertiliser ingredients was affected.
Dunedin City Station senior station officer Mark Leonard said four fire appliances responded to the alarm, from City, Willowbank and Ravensbourne stations. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes.
Ravensdown acting chief executive Bryan Inch said the 45 staff and 10 contractors at the site were evacuated without incident.
Damage to the plant was ‘‘very minor'', and the company's focus was on supporting the affected workers, he said.
