There was more crying and screaming than in a One Direction concert, more swinging and acting the goat in the aisles than a Miley Cyrus concert, and more posturing than a Justin Bieber concert.
And that was before the Wiggles even took the stage at the Regent Theatre yesterday.
But when the music started, all eyes were glued to the stage.
The Wiggles gave two concerts yesterday, and for many of the 750 children and their parents, it was the highlight of their year.
One parent said it was right up there with seeing Santa Claus, for her two boys, aged 2 and 4.
''They've been hyped up for days about going to see the Wiggles.''
After 22 years of entertaining children around the globe, the Australian-based group returned to the city as part of its biggest New Zealand tour in a decade, with performances in 11 cities in 15 days.
While most of the former members of the group have gone, it made no difference to the young audience.
They were just as delighted with the only original Wiggle, Blue Wiggle Anthony Field, who started the group 22 years ago, being joined by Red Wiggle Simon, Yellow Wiggle and first female Wiggle Emma, and Purple Wiggle Lachy.
Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and Captain Feathersword were also on hand to help sing the Wiggles' classics Hot Potato, Rock A Bye Your Bear, and new hits like Do the Propellor.
Field said the 2013 tour was a new chapter in the group's story.
''We have a new energy that's quite contagious. It's been such an exciting year so far and we're playing to a new generation of Wiggle fans.
''They're loving hearing the Wiggle classics like Hot Potato, as well as our new songs.''
Aside from the group's increasing popularity on television, it has had number one chart successes on iTunes this year, packed out live shows around the world, and appeared in Time and People magazines.
