Weaver Christine Keller, of Dunedin, with a blanket she wove for the Otago Community Hospice to accompany people that have been cared for at its Dunedin base in North Rd.

She presented the hospice with the blanket yesterday.

The multi-coloured blanket — called "Kahu Aroha" — is based on the three main rivers that flow through the region the hospice covers — the Waitaki, the Taiari (Taieri) and Mata-au (Clutha) as well as the riverbanks that embrace them.

The blanket will be placed over patients who have died in the inpatient unit as they are transferred to the hearse.
