Finding a broken egg with a firecracker attached on his doorstep was the last straw for Fairfield man Barry Hamilton.

And he is worried about what might happen next.

He says ‘‘kids. . .fly through on skateboards, bikes and scooters'' on his private driveway linking Main South Rd and Old Brighton Rd and the attacks started after he asked them to ride somewhere else.

A regular stream of children ‘‘whizzed'' down the access way, which was clearly marked at both ends as a private driveway, he said.

‘‘I could back out the driveway and run over one of them or they could bowl over one of the elderly women and break their hip.''

Mr Hamilton said the egg was just the most recent of many incidents affecting him and his mostly elderly neighbours.

‘‘It's probably just fun but it makes you wonder what could happen in the [school holidays].''

He has also had tomatoes thrown at a window, a neighbour's windmill was thrown over a fence and broken and lights were grabbed and thrown into the garden at another property.

‘‘It just doesn't feel like my own home any more.''

He had spoken to police about the problem and had also contacted the local school and had noticed an improvement since then - until the egg incident.
