A property in Huntly has been cordoned off by the armed offenders squad and police investigating a robbery in Waikato today.
Acting western Waikato area commander Senior Sergeant Dave Simes said officers were called to Kihikihi, about 30km south of Hamilton, this morning following a complaint about motorcycles being taken from a shop.
"As a result of this, an alert identifying a vehicle believed to have been involved has gone out to various Waikato police units and a patrol car in Huntly spotted what they believe is a car involved in the earlier incident," Mr Simes said.
He said there was a possible threat of firearms and armed offenders officers were called in as a result.
Officers at the scene were trying to establish what happened this morning and "working towards bringing the situation to a successful conclusion".
