One person has been arrested after a stand-off with armed police on Auckland's North Shore today.
Police went to a property on Birkdale Rd, Birkenhead, about 10.40am, with a search warrant but the occupant refused to come out and the armed offenders squad was called, a police spokeswoman said.
The incident had now been resolved and a person arrested, she said.
A nearby resident, who wished only to be identified as Karen, said she had heard the stand-off started after a drug bust.
She saw a helicopter circling the area and numerous police cars.
Police would not comment on suggestions tear gas was going to be used.
The Fire Service was also on standby.
